Dr. Molot has long been an advocate for patients with environmentally-linked conditions. In 2007, he collaborated on The Medical Perspective on Environmental Sensitivities, commissioned by the Canadian Human Rights Commission, which lead to the recognition of environmental sensitivities as a disability with the legal right to accommodation in the workplace. He has written many reports for ES/MCS patients to obtain the necessary accommodations to be able to continue to work. His advocacy includes having provided evidence-based presentations to the Canadian Environmental Law Association, the National and Ontario Region Boards of Directors of the Public Service Alliance of Canada and the Association of Management, Administrative and Professional Crown Employees of Ontario (AMAPCEO).
Medical legal assessments
Dr. Molot has provided more than 100 independent medical legal reports for both plaintiffs and the defence at the request of legal representatives in both Canada and the USA. He has appeared in court as an expert witness on numerous occasions.
Opinions provided include consideration of environmental impacts in cases of personal injury, evaluations of functional abilities in patients with environmental sensitivities/multiple chemical sensitivity (ES/MCS), myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS) and fibromyalgia for contested claims of disability, and recommendations for accommodation. His opinions are evidence-based, supported by citations of published medical studies obtained from peer-reviewed medical journals available in the medical database of the U.S. National Library of Medicine.
Dr. Molot is the medical legal liaison for the University of Toronto affiliated Environmental Health Clinic at Women’s College Hospital in Toronto, Ontario, where he is a staff physician.
